The concert, to take place on the Rice campus in Willy’s Pub on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 10 p.m., is co-sponsored by the Consulate General of Israel. According to Rabbi Kenny Weiss, Houston Hillel’s executive director, “The concert is free of charge for everyone.
Students, 20-somethings and members of the community all are encouraged to attend this exciting event. Shira sings in both Hebrew and English, and her music is accessible to all listeners.”
Gavrielov’s appearance is part of a series of university concerts to familiarize American audiences with her music.
Born in April in Israel, Shira was destined for a life of music.
Her music most often is compared to Fiona Apple and Norah Jones. Gavrielov plays piano and will be accompanied by a guitarist.
Familiar to Israeli audiences, she had performed from a young age with her father, Miki Gavrielov, but recently has carved out her own path.
